Murilo Bustamante is not ready to hang up the gloves. The former UFC champion will headline Amazon Forest Combat 2 against fellow former champion Dave Menne. The card takes place on March 31 in Manaus, Brazil.
Bustamante will return to action for only the second time since 2007. The Brazilian fell to TUF veteran Jesse Taylor at Impact FC 2 in 2010. The Brazilian Top Team founder originally won the belt with a second-round technical knockout of Menne. He defended the belt with a guillotine-choke submission of Olympian Matt Lindland before leaving for Pride FC. Bustamante fought for the Japanese promotion nine times winning only four bouts.
For all intents and purposes, Menne's career peaked with his victory over Gil Castillo for the middleweight title in 2001. He dropped the belt to Bustamante in his next fight and never returned to the highest levels of the sport. However, since 2009, he is 3-1 with victories over Norman Paraisy and Eric Davila.
Amazon Forest Combat hosted their first show last September. The event featured a light heavyweight contest between Satoshi Ishii and former WEC champion Paulo Filho. In the main event Royler Gracie dropped a decision to former Shooto world champion Masakatsu Ueda and subsequently retired from MMA.
